Globe and Mail highlights the pivotal role that CFI plays in supporting research.
Posted On: December 30, 2016
This year, the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) is celebrating its 20 year anniversary. Since 1997 CFI has provided Canadian researchers, through peer-reviewed funding competitions, the infrastructure required to carry out world-leading research.
To commemorate these achievements, on November 22, 2016, the Globe and Mail and Le Droit featured a 20-page special supplement titled, Excellence in Research and Innovation to highlight Canadian research within themes such as ‘water and food security’, ‘Health and medicine’, and ‘Entrepreneurship and innovation’.
The supplement, which has already reached over 2 million Canadians, highlights CFI-funded research and infrastructure across the country. Examples include:
• UHN’s Princess Margaret Cancer Research Tower and the Krembil Discovery Tower
• Ryerson University’s Responsive Ecologies Lab
• Research into the sustainable use of the oceans by Dalhousie University’s Ocean Frontier Institute
• McGill University’s CBRAIN computing platform
