My research program focuses on innovative approaches to address the health needs and safety of the frail older population with chronic and complex conditions, especially those with chronic wounds. There is currently no standardized way that wound dressings are selected for inclusion in formularies, contracts and clinical use. I aim to develop selection criteria, which will promote standardization and a consistent approach for clinicians and purchasers to make educated, clinically relevant decisions. The goals are to improve clinical and health economic outcomes and improve patients' quality of life. I also work with researchers from Toronto Metropolitan University and University Health Network to develop an approach to track fatigue accumulation and recovery, as well as fatigue-related error rate probabilities, using a multi-day workload and fatigue modelling approach.
