My laboratory studies the 3D structures of proteins in order to gain insight into how they recognize other proteins, peptides, lipids and small molecules in the normal state and in cancer. Specific systems include structural studies of transcription factors/corepressor complexes, E3 ubiquitin ligase complexes, and lysosomal proteins involved in the degradation of sphingolipids. This chemical view of the molecular defects in cancer allows us to use structure-guided strategies for the development of new drugs for the treatment of cancer.
