I have concentrated my clinical and research efforts on spinal pathologies, with my research activities focusing on outcome measures and the development of practice guidelines. A special area of intense interest is cervical pathologies. Motion preservation by looking at various strategies, cervical arthroplasty devices, and tissue engineering through collaborations are among my current interests.
Medical education at a multitude of levels is also part of my research curriculum. Efforts to improve educational tools and assessments -- from patient, allied health, nursing, medical under-graduate and post-graduate levels -- are ongoing. Improving the quality of teaching in order to transmit knowledge to our future generations constitutes a priority for me.
