We investigate how to train the immune system to attack and kill cancer cells. We accomplish this by using viral vectors to insert immune-activating genes into cancer cells. These modified cancer cells are injected into animals (in experimental models) or patients (in clinical trials). We subsequently monitor the nature of the immune response and the effect on cancer cells.
