My research is in the area of innovative technology for dementia care, with a focus on the development and clinical evaluation of technology for the management of falls risk and neuropsychiatric symptoms in dementia. Much of my research takes place in the setting of the Specialized Dementia unit at Toronto Rehab, which is being developed as an instrumented dementia research unit. My research is highly interdisciplinary and collaborative, and draws upon my knowledge and experience in clinical dementia care and my clinical research experience. In the context of COVID-19, I am leading a project to support ethical decision-making in long-term care settings, including identifying ways to support the use of infection control measures in a compassionate and person-centered way.
