Dr. John Dick named Fellow of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR).

PM Cancer Centre Senior Scientist Dr. John Dick was appointed a 2016 Fellow of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Academy.
The distinction honours Dr. Dick’s world-renowned research program, which has recently led to a number of significant advancements in the field of cancer cell biology. These include the first isolation of blood and leukemia stem cells; the finding that cells within leukemia and colon cancers exhibit more diversity in their traits and genetics than previously thought; and new insights into how blood stem cells develop into the different cells of the blood system.
His appointment as AACR Fellow accompanies a number of other prestigious appointments, including: Canada Research Chair in Stem Cell Biology; Scientist at the McEwen Centre for Regenerative Medicine; Director, Program in Cancer Stem Cells, Ontario Institute for Cancer Research; and Professor, Department of Molecular Genetics, University of Toronto.
Annually, 11 AACR Fellows are chosen through a peer-review process that selects only those individuals that have “had a significant and long-lasting impact on the field” of cancer research. The new Fellows will be formally inducted at the AACR Annual Meeting 2016, in New Orleans between April 16 and 20
