TGHRI Clinical Researcher Dr. Michael Farkouh was recently named the 2015 recipient of the Jan J. Kellermann Memorial Award for his achievements within the field of cardiovascular disease prevention.
Dr. Farkouh's main research focus is the treatment and management of cardiovascular disease in those with diabetes. Within this area he has led large-scale clinical trials, including the FREEDOM Trial, which assessed the effectiveness of common treatments for coronary artery disease in patients with diabetes.
The award was presented to Dr. Farkouh at the opening ceremony of the International Academy of Cardiology's 20th World Congress on Heart Disease in Vancouver, British Columbia.
