PM Senior Scientist Dr. John Dick has been recognized for his discovery of leukemia stem cells with the Gold Leaf Prize for Discovery by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). This prize is awarded to individuals or teams whose research findings are unique and innovative and represent a ground-breaking discovery in health research that has significantly influenced its field.
According to CIHR, Dr. Dick was selected for the prize because his “work in the area of leukemia stem cells has significantly influenced our understanding of human cancer biology and launched a new field of cancer research.”
As part of the award, Dr. Dick will receive $100,000 to support his research program, as well as a medal that will be presented to him by the Governor General during a ceremony in Ottawa on May 16.
